
Targeted Preparation for Your Studies in Germany
The Language and Education Institute Bonn offers optimal preparation for university studies in Germany. Our Studienkolleg in Bonn is designed for students whose school qualifications are not yet recognized in Germany and prepares them for the university entrance examination (Feststellungsprüfung – FSP). This exam is a prerequisite for admission to universities and universities of applied sciences in Germany.
To successfully pass the FSP, comprehensive preparation in all four exam subjects is required. Our goal is to support you throughout the entire process and to help you meet the latest academic standards. Learn in a motivating, international environment in the heart of Bonn’s historic old town.
Structure of the Studienkolleg
The Studienkolleg spans 10 months and is divided into two semesters. It includes four subjects: German and three additional subjects, depending on your intended field of study. A detailed overview of subject choices can be found on our website.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to our Studienkolleg, a B2 telc certificate is required. If you already have B2-level language skills but do not yet have a telc certificate, you have the opportunity to take the exam within two months after the course starts.
If you do not yet have sufficient German skills, we offer preparatory language courses for levels A1, A2, B1, and B2 – each lasting eight weeks per level.

Learn Online & On-Site
The Language and Education Institute Bonn offers a hybrid model that gives you the ideal combination of online and in-person classes. In the first semester, you can choose whether to attend online or on-site – according to your needs. From the second semester onward, classes are held exclusively in person to ensure intensive preparation for the Feststellungsprüfung (FSP). This way, you benefit from the flexibility of online learning and the focused support of classroom instruction.

4. Payment of Course Fees
Once your documents are approved, you’ll receive an invoice for the course fees. Please make sure to transfer the payment on time to secure your place in the course.
5. Receive Your Admission Letter
After we’ve received your payment, you will receive the official admission confirmation by email.
6. Apply for Your Visa
With your admission letter, you can begin your visa application process at the German embassy. Be sure to include all other required documents.

After Completing Your Studienkolleg: All Information About the External FSP Exam in Cologne
Your Final Exam with the Sprach- und Bildungsinstitut Bonn (SBIB)
At the Sprach- und Bildungsinstitut Bonn, we offer intensive, targeted preparation for the external university entrance assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung – FSP), administered by the District Government of Cologne.
The FSP certificate is officially recognized by all public universities in Germany and qualifies you to apply for admission to a bachelor’s degree program.
Where Does the FSP Take Place?
The external FSP in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) is held twice a year in Cologne.
It includes both written and oral exams, organized by the District Government of Cologne on behalf of the state of NRW.
Requirements for Participation in the External FSP
To apply for the external FSP, you must meet the following criteria:
1. Recognized Secondary School Certificate
Your high school diploma must qualify you for a Studienkolleg in Germany.
Check your eligibility via the Anabin database.
2. German Language Proficiency (Minimum Level B2)
Accepted certificates include:
telc Deutsch B2
Goethe-Zertifikat B2
TestDaF (TDN 3 in all parts)
DSH-1
DSD II
How to Apply for the External FSP
Applications must be submitted to the District Government of Düsseldorf.
The SBIB team will gladly support you throughout the process.
